Resellers
Introduction for resellers
Clients with reseller privileges have access to additional tools and services. Here are a few highlights to get you started.
Control Panels
Unlike a normal hosting client, you have access to two Control Panels.
WHM (Web Host Manager)
This is unique to you, the reseller, and allows you to setup and manage your own client hosting plans.
Check your Welcome Mail for confirmation of your login details which will be ...
http://change-domain.com:2086
http://change-domain.com/whm/
Remember to change the domain name to your own.
The above domain path will not work until your domain is fully nested on our servers. In which case, you can also use the IP path as follows ...
http://111.111.111.111:2086
http://111.111.111.11/whm/
Remember to change the IP address to the one mentioned in your Welcome Mail.
Enter the username and password contained in your Welcome Email when the login prompt appears.
User Control Panel (cPanel)
This is for the client or end user to setup their website and email. Whenever you create a new hosting plan from WHM, a unique User Control Panel is also created. The client would then login to it as follows ...
http://change-domain.com:2082
http://change-domain.com/cpanel/
Remember to change the domain name to the client domain.
The above domain path will not work until the client domain is fully nested on our servers. In which case, you can also use your own domain name as the login path.
Skeleton Directory
The skeleton directory is a WHM controlled central directory for resellers. By placing your own personalized 'index.html' file within the skeleton directory, all new accounts you add will then display that file until the domain owner removes or replaces it.
You are welcome to include other files in this directory which you want to be automatically copied to the home directory of any new plans.
This is an excellent way to automatically insert your own index page or user-specific page(s) in every account you setup.
Suspended Page
If you need to suspend an account, you can create a default 'suspended' page which will show in place of the client's suspended website. To do so ...
- login to your WHM
- find the main header 'account functions'
- click on the link 'modify suspended account page'
- insert your suspended page code
- click save
Once created, you can also modify this page through the 'file manager' feature of your Control Panel or via ftp. If you do amend this page through these sources, make sure the page is named 'index.html'.
Overselling
Our range of Reseller Hosting Plans all come with the ability to oversell by 2 times.
Overselling is where the amount of webspace and bandwidth a reseller can allocate clients is actually higher than the allocation the reseller has in total.
Example: if you take our RS2 reseller account with 4GB of webspace, normal host providers allow you to create, say, 40 accounts of 100mb each (4GB).
Consider that your 40 clients are unlikely to use all of their 100mb allocation and it's easy to see that the actual webspace usage will be lower than the allocated 4GB.
At Poldings, you can oversell by 2 times which means you can create 2 x 40 = 80 accounts for the same 4GB reseller allocation.
This allows you to create more accounts and make better use of your original allocation.
Of course, the actual webspace used by your clients must still remain below the hard ceiling of 4GB.
If you find you need to upgrade you can do so at any time.
Support
As a reseller, we do not support your clients directly. Instead, if a client has a problem, find out as much as you can and also try to resolve that problem yourself. Then if you need our help, raise a support ticket and we will help you to resolve the issue.
