Beware the 'ISP Renewal' Scam
Another domain renewal scam that's in operation is from a company calling themselves 'ISP Renewal' or 'DomainRenewalOnline'.
How this domain renewal scam works ...
They target domains that are due for renewal and send the registrant an email recommending they follow a link to renew the domain. The link takes you to a website from where you can pay them an awful lot of money to renew the domain.
What you should do if you get the email ...
Firstly, don't panic. This it is a phishing email and relies on people believing what they read. All you need do is delete the email and forget about it. Rest assured that your domain registrar will contact you in good time before your domain is due for renewal and it is they you should use to renew your domain.
What if you've already paid them ...
They will not be able to renew your domain for you without any interruption to service so you should try to claim your money back as quickly as possible.
