Examples of Web Design, Build and Development
Web development can encompass a variety of roles including design, content, page coding and marketing. Here are just a few examples of how we have helped our clients improve and develop their websites ...
Devon Cars Direct
Brand new car sales catalogue website with detailed stock information and extensive photo gallery.
- website redesign
- CSS development
- PHP user control centre
- mySQL database driven pages
http://www.devoncarsdirect.co.uk
The Brief
This client wanted a premium catalogue style website to present cars for sale. More than just a standard car sales website, each vehicle was to have a lot of detailed information and photos presented. Additionally, the client wanted easy access to be able to fully manage the stock and web page content at any time.
The Solution
The client provided a web template from a third-party designer and general information as to what detail each page would include. However, when the template was built it was found to be a little too dark and dreary so the client asked us to undertake a redesign.
We suggested the lighter and cleaner look as shown on the website today. The client was happy and so we moved on to building the backend which included designing the rather detailed database to cater for the extensive information to be held on each vehicle.
Whilst we have produced a great many catalogue websites to date, this one was to hold extensive information about each vehicle but it was still important that the back end administrative control centre remained clean and easy for the client to use.
Working closely with the client and after developing our solution, we soon found an acceptable format that enabled the client to quickly and easily update the stock and also edit the web page content at any time.
Normandy Motorcycles
Brand new motorcycle servicing, repair and sales website with very easy to use stock control upload system.
- website design
- SEO optimisation
- PHP easy admin centre
- mySQL database driven pages
http://www.normandymotorcycles.co.uk
The Brief
Established in 1960, this local business wanted a website to reflect their focus on local motorcycle servicing and sales. Whilst they didn't want to change page content, they did want to upload a weekly stock list of motorcycles for sale and they wanted the process to be as quick and easy as possible.
The Solution
We collected some historical photos from the client and coupled them with a few more recent bike photos to create the template. They didn't need anything garish and wanted the focus to be on the content, so we opted for a very simple style design. Once approved, we created the CSS template and wrote the page content for them.
The backend was a custom build and provides exactly what the client wanted - nothing more and nothing less. It's extremely easy to use and the client can login and add new stock within a few seconds.
Also built into this site is our Quick Start SEO Package that allowed the site to quickly get great Google rankings for key phrases such as motorbike servicing surrey and motorbike mots surrey.
Ervin Amasteel
New site build for an international industrial manufacturer with the entire site catering for multiple language selection.
- PSD to CSS template
- PHP user control centre
- mySQL database driven pages
- support for multiple languages
The Brief
This international company wanted their website to be available across 16 different languages. They also wanted the web content for each language to be managed by individual offices around the world.
The Solution
Working closely with the graphic design company (Progress Design) we took their PhotoShop PSD template and used it to build a CSS website template which was then submitted for approval.
After the website template had been approved, we built a mysql database to house the web page content with support for multiple languages. This was then coupled to a custom built user administration centre from where the site could be managed.
Even with the complexity of multiple users and languages, we created an intuitive admin centre that recognised user properties and this made it possible for us to present a very easy to use platform, despite the possible language barriers.
Normally we provide some level of tuition when we hand over a project but this client found the simple admin centre so easy to use and understand that no training was necessary.
City Furniture Clearance
Website redesign and refresh for the UKs largest second hand furniture wholesaler with extensive database driven stock items.
- website design
- CSS restructuring
- PHP reprogramming
- mySQL cleaning and rebuilding
http://www.cityfurnitureclearance.co.uk
The Brief
This furniture wholesaler in Cambridgeshire had a very large database driven website with slow loading pages and dated design. They wanted something a little more modern with much faster loading pages to service their growing popularity.
The Solutions
The site had a lot of good elements already in place which we were happy to continue using. However, the pages had a lot of coding errors and poorly structured scripting that needed to be cleaned and repaired.
After a face lifting redesign, we set about tidying the page coding and creating a CSS stylesheet to format the new layout. Additionally, after a number of years of operation, the database held a lot of dead or redundant information which we cleaned and removed.
The result was a much faster loading website that immediately had an impact on customer feedback and resulting sales. Needless to say the client was more than happy with the results.
